Oh no, I’m stranded at the beach with family

What a fantastic episode in my sitcom!! Margie and I are here for a week at Folly B’Golly, a lovely beach house on Folly Beach. What makes this a miraculous gift is that we are the senior attendees at a 4-generation beach reunion. We are joined by our daughter and two sons, a grandson and three granddaughters, and one beautiful little 2+ year-old great granddaughter. Their spouses, friends, and significant others have also honored us by attending this wonderful, sometimes chaotic week.

We are NOT starving. A lasagna dinner the first night. Good ole Dukes BBQ from Orangeburg, SC next; and for tonight, a Pizza party in honor of our grandson’s fast-approaching 30th birthday (that’s scary). Other great dinners or outings are planned for the rest of our stay. Seems like everyone is enjoying the beach again.

Then, Charleston happened!! On July 1, we had a “frog strangler” that flooded many areas of downtown Charleston. My son, Jeffrey, and Margie’s brother, Harry were planning to spend the night at our house downtown, since Folly B’Golly was technically filled with other family members. BUT, many downtown roads were closed due to flooding. South Battery Street didn’t flood badly, but getting to it was going to be a crap shoot.
Harry and Jeffrey, with my total support, decided to hunker down at the beach house for the night. Thank Heaven for sofas. Remember, Flexibility is the Key to Air Power.
The Flood watch was cancelled by the City late on that night and the next day looked cloudy, but not lotsa rain. Roads should be passable. Back to almost normal.
Margie and I are looking forward to enjoying a Charleston breakfast with Jeffrey and Harry at a local eatery before checking on our South Battery condo. Hopefully, the rest of our “Beach Week” will be without weather emergencies. Keep your fingers crossed for us. Enuf.
