Tan Son Nhut AB Nov 1969

Here I am with our whole crew receiving the rather auspicious recognition as the crew that flew the 80,000th accident-free hour in a combat zone.  Kinda safe wouldn’t you say.   I’m the tall, skinny dude 2nd from left in back. Our AC was Captain Jack Bell. Kneeling on left of sign. I flew 143 missions with him.  We are in front of our EC-47. And were told to wait in aircraft until the camera crew could come out to take our photo.  We thought we screwed something up. And were pleasantly surprised when we found out we were just getting our picture took. We may look a bit tired after our 7-hour recon mission. But we were tough lol.
Another peak at a crazy part of life about 54 years ago. Good God I’m old.
