A patient patient

Life is a sitcom and today would wear very well as a Seinfeld episode ( with some comedic editing).
Right now, I’m in my Roper Hospital room on mandatory bed rest after a successful (I hope) Amulet procedure.
It’s 1130 am and I got 3 more hours to go. Yuk.
The goal of this procedure is to get me off blood thinners, which are a pain in the ass. The amulet is a device used to occlude an appendage ( cover a flap) in my heart from which most strokes come. If it works the probability of a stroke goes down so much I can stop blood thinners.
My day started at 4 am. ( think I slept much?) Christine, my wonderful daughter who puts up with me, picked me up at 530 for a 6am report time at Roper.
Then the fun called “ prep” starts for an 8 am procedure.  Foist, (I am a New Yawker) they gotta draw blood and start an IV. Ya see, I’m old. My veins roll and by their terms” blow up”.  Making those tasks difficult for them and torture for me.  The IV was started successfully and blood drawn after 4 ( I said 4) tries.
I’m a very good person, so I smiled and made jokes after each rather painful ( but not much) try.
Then I met two Anesthesiologists, both very nice and professional , but the first one came to my room in error because of a staffing mix up. I answered both of their questions politely, because I’m – —— ———.
Then, the unlucky nurse arrived to wheel me to the OR/Cath Lab.   Guess what?   The automatic door wouldn’t open. He got some extra PT by taking me the long way around where the door worked.
Everyone in the OR was very professional in the short time I was awake.   Next thing I know I’m in recovery and now in my room “ enjoying” my second hour of bed rest
Enuf for now.  All is well.
