Granddaddy- You Can’t Take Him Anywhere!

About 10 years ago Marjorie and I ( AKA Grandmommy and Granddaddy ) took Granddaughter, Caroline to the Big Apple. She actually wanted to see the hit musical, “Hamilton”, but I wasn’t prepared to take out a second mortgage to buy tickets. Ergo, instead, I gave her an immersion in Hamilton history.
We visited his grave at Trinity Church at Wall Street. We toured the house he built and lived in in Harlem.
Additionally, we visited my cousin, Nancy, who has lived in New York for her entire adult life. We rode the subway, toured the 9/11 Museum and World Trade Center Memorial.

After a short visit to Rockefeller Center with its iconic skating area and Statue of Prometheus, we left Marjorie resting there a while, as Caroline and I walked a few blocks up Fifth Avenue to Trump Tower. On the way, a stereotypical cab driver, stereotypically beeped at me and shouted some obscenity outta his window. I stereotypically responded with “ Your horn blows, how about ———-//-/////..”. Caroline looked up at me and said, “Really!!, Granddaddy”
We went on to Trump Tower and I wasn’t arrested. We then returned to meet up with Marjorie again and went somewhere fun for lunch.

In other woids ( New Yawk lingo again)
We had a good, if quick, overview of the big city, focusing on Hamilton.
As we neared the end of our fun journey, I asked my sweet granddaughter, who now teaches world history to seventh graders, “What was the highlight of our trip to New York?” She said, “Your cousin and your atrocious language”.

As I Said, “You can’t take Granddaddy anywhere”

Trump Tower has a magnetism for inappropriate Granddaddy behavior. Years before, I took Joshua, my eldest grandchild, to that iconic tower. He was only nine years old. We were going up on the lovely tower escalator. An attractive young lady was just ahead of us on the escalator. She had a small tattoo on the small of her back just above her shorts. Joshua’s eye level on the escalator, a couple steps behind her, was just even with that tattoo. I was quite a bit taller. I was not the best influence for Joshua’s future behavior because I leaned way down to his level and whispered way too low for others to hear,” Josh, I wish i was your height.” Enuf
