It’s a Wonderful Life

God is great!!  He has blessed me and my beautiful wife, Marjorie, with an absolutely wonderful, long life, epitomized by the last couple of weeks.  First, on February 7, we were so honored to be able to play a small role in the 60th wedding anniversary celebration of our dear, dear friends Adolf and Doris. Their kids ( hint hint) gave them a few days at Kiawah and a beautiful Anniversary dinner celebration on February 8.   Marjorie and I happily volunteered to pick them up at the Charleston airport, show them a little bit of our beloved city, Charleston, and bring them to Kiawah after a great lunch at The Angel Oak restaurant.  A great opportunity to catch up and enjoy each other’s company. What a treat!

This past weekend, our son, Jim and his wife Kiersten traveled up from Richmond Hill, Georgia ( near Savannah) for not just a visit, but with the expressed goal to help us transition from Christmas decor to our normal Charleston Lowcountry decor.  Jim is our regular Mr Fix It and he went through a detailed “To do” list from Marjorie.
I, as usual, found several errands to do away from our house and the hard work  However, I topped off my absence by bringing home a scrumptious Lasagna dinner for 5 of us from Olive Garden.   Yes, 5 of us.  Our daughter, Christine, was able to join us for a great visit and dinner celebration on Friday night.
Marjorie and I enjoyed some left over Lasagna Saturday evening for dinner after our Savannah Scooler couple returned home after being a tremendous help to us.

Next, for a fantastic finale ( you like that alliteration? ), we enjoyed a marvelous dinner out at our new favorite eatery, The James, on Monday, Feb 19. We were joined by our very special friends, Kip and Valerie for great food, fine wine and lotsa laughs and an absolutely fabulous evening.

On the way out of The James, I noticed a gentleman with other people at a table in a wheelchair and on a large oxygen system. He appeared quite a bit younger than me.  My heart went out to him and I was again struck by just how lucky Marjorie and I are to be slow, but mobile enough to be able to enjoy a fine dinner out experience now and then.
Marjorie doesn’t like me to mention our age, but I’ll tell you I remember World War II.  I retired from the Air Force after 30 years service over 30 years ago.  There, I didn’t say anything about my age.
Our latest major blessing—- A beautiful, perfect great granddaughter almost two years old today.  I know she’s perfect cause her Grandma, Christine, told me so.
